About Us

BenchSci has developed an innovative platform named ASCEND, designed to revolutionize how scientists conduct life-saving research and development. Founded in 2015 by Tom Leung, David Q. Chen, Elvis Wianda, and Liran Belenzon, BenchSci emerged from the U of T Creative Destruction Lab to address the antibody reproducibility crisis using artificial intelligence (AI). One of BenchSci's significant projects, Project Butterfly, created the world's first evidence-backed map of disease biology. This project led to the development of ASCEND, which aims to democratize the understanding of disease biology across all therapeutic areas and significantly increase the speed and yield of R&D portfolios.
